Children

Children count @ crossWinds Children’s Ministries, aka adventureIsland:

We are so excited….  To serve you and your child!
We strive to make this the best part of your child’s week, so that they want to come back again and again to hear how they too can become a fully devoted follower of Jesus.

adventureIsland is divided up by age groups: birth to 24 months in the Nursery, 2 years old through entering kindergarten in pre-school, K – 2nd grade in theCove, and 3rd – 5th grades in theWave.

Nursery (0-24 months)
We strive to create a place, through play and music, where children feel loved and secure, and where parents are confident about safety and the  quality of care they are receiving while you enjoy the service.

Additionally, we have a Calm Room available, located at the back of the auditorium, as an alternative for parents who would prefer to stay with a restless child. Toys and a space for children to play are provided, as is a rocking chair to help you comfort your child. Parents can view the service via the in-room monitor.

Pre-School (2-4 years old)
A typical morning is preschool begin with children exploring the carefully chosen activities and toys set out around the room.

This is followed by a largeGroup time. Biblical truths are taught by our storytellers in creative ways using music, creative movement, drama and props all designed with a pre-schooler’s special needs in mind. The children then have the option to work on a craft that relates to the theme of the morning.

Although different activities and experiences are encouraged, children are free to enjoy the classroom at their own pace.

theCove (K-2nd grade) & theWave (3rd-5th grade)

As the children enter each area there are activities, such as games, building toys, or crafts. We use this time to help the children interact and develop friendships with each other as well as with the leaders.

Both groups meet together for songs and a time of worship, then break into their age appropriate largeGroup, our teaching time. Biblical truths are taught in creative ways and are supplemented with music, drama, and props.

Our morning ends with smallGroup. The children are challenged, through activities and discussion, to apply the lesson of the morning.
