Asked Questions
What
is The Greatest Investment: “Believe” campaign?
This campaign is about our mission: To convince people of the relevancy
of God and lead them in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus
Christ. A permanent home in a flexible facility will allow us
to
further this mission.
Just
what are we building?
We are building a facility that will allow us to do everything that we
currently do at Willow Creek Middle School and more. The
facility
will have 13,000 to 15,000 square feet of space that will accommodate a
worship center (360 seats), a foodCourt/community area that can seat
120 people, a kitchen, special rooms for arts and children’s
ministries (elementary school and younger), 4 offices, and more.
Why
build?
One of the most exciting aspects of having our own facility is engaging
in ministries on one “campus” instead of multiple
rented
and borrowed sites. Currently, all of our student and
women’s ministry activities are held at other churches. Our
rented offices are located in the back of a used car lot and our
trailers are stored on rented property.
Having a permanent campus available 24 hours a day will unite our
church, create a central identity to all of our ministries, and better
serve our mission.
How
would the building be used during the week?
Men’s and women’s ministries events, youth events,
small
groups (e.g., moms and dads who love the idea of having a nursery and
preschool room available to them), team meetings, band practices (4-5
different bands currently play for church ministry events), drama
rehearsals, and the day-to-day office work that goes along with running
a church.
What
other ministry uses would the building have?
Weddings! And, of course, funerals are a reality as
well.
Currently we must rent alternative spaces to serve families during
these sacred events. The building may also be made available to others
in the community for special uses. Furthermore, we expect new
ministry ideas (vision) to develop as we learn to live and serve in our
new space.
How
much would this initial building cost?
$2 million.
Is
there a master plan?
Yes. It is very important that we work from a master plan. It
tells us where on the property to build, it guides the placements of
hallways, it allows us to build infrastructure for future expansion,
and it gives us a vision for growth.
What
would the building look like?
We don’t know yet. However, we are working with
architects
who are not only specialists in church design, but who also understand
the unique culture of crossWinds. The goal is to have a
facility
that is attractive to seekers and consistent with our mission, vision,
and ministry goals.
How
will a new building change crossWinds?
Our hope is to become more effective at reaching people who are
interested in seeking God. Some people fear having our own
building will make us too “churchy” or
formal. We
will do our best to maintain a crossWinds-styled ministry in the look
and feel of the building.
What will we do with all of our portable equipment like the trailers
and cargo containers?
We will attempt to use every thing that we already own. Our goal is to
move into a permanent home, not to have all new furnishings and
equipment.
