What is NEXT campaign?
This campaign is about our mission: To convince people of the relevancy of God and lead them in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Our building is a tool to help us fulfill our mission. Our goal is to expand and sharpen this tool in order to love and serve people God brings to us.
What are we building?
We plan to add approximately 8,000 square feet of space largely dedicated to children and youth (NEXT generation). In addition we will nearly double our lobby by converting some current classrooms.
Why build?
First, we have areas of our church reaching capacity. The nursery, children’s ministry rooms, and the lobby at times feel too crowded. Additionally, our facility lacks dedicated space for youth ministries.
Secondly, we build for those who are yet to come. Crosswinds has always been committed to reaching as many people as possible. We build not to make us more comfortable, but to make us more effective.
We believe upgrading and expanding our space for children and youth will make our commitment to kids unmistakable. In addition, the increased lobby space will help us live out our commitment to community in a way we can’t experience today.
How would other ministries benefit?
- weddings, funerals, and special events would be enhanced with the lobby space
- small groups would have more rooms and space to spread out
- programs requiring larger space
- concurrent programming would be feasible
How much will this initial building cost?
Early estimates are less than $1.3 million. Before building, however, we would have a “not to exceed” price guarantee with our design/build contractor.
Is there a master plan?
Yes. A master plan is critical. It tells us where on the property to build, guides the placements of hallways, allows us to build infrastructure for future expansion, and gives us a vision for growth.
How will an expansion change Crosswinds?
This addition will not change the mission or culture of Crosswinds. What we do well, we hope to do better.
